Frequently Asked HVAC Questions

Q: What does “split-ductless” mean?
A: An energy efficient air-conditioning and heat pump system that uses refrigerant lines instead of ductwork. Mitsubishi Electric’s systems harness the latest technology to give you both high-quality indoor air and precision control of room temperature. It has two installed parts: an indoor unit and a connected outdoor unit. For residential systems, the indoor units can be wall-mounted and operated with a hand-held remote controller. A multi-unit system is also available with one outdoor unit for up to four rooms. Choose from cooling-only and cool/heat HVAC systems.

Q: Which size model is right for my room?
A: The rule of thumb is 30 Btu/h per square foot, but we can tell you for sure by inspecting the room.

Q:What’s the cost for a Mr. Slim system?
A: The rule of thumb is 30 Btu/h per square foot. We can give you a cost estimate when we come to your home, evaluate the space, then discuss your needs for that area.

Q: Can I buy the system direct and install it myself?
A: The system must be professionally installed by a certified Mitsubishi Electric dealer to ensure your safety and satisfaction and provide full warranty coverage.

Q: Can you give me a quote over the phone?

A: No. Your home is unique. You deserve a unique solution. We have to see and measure your home for proper calculations and HVAC system sizing.

Q: What if I know the square footage?

A: No, again. A system cannot be designed by square footage alone. We use an ACCA approved program to measure dozens of factors to design the perfect heating & air conditioning system for your home.

Q: How does a heat pump work?

A:Heat pumps move heat from one place to another providing heat in winter and cooling in summer.

Q: What is a hybrid system?

A:Hybrid systems use a heat pump combined with a secondary source of heat (gas, electric, or oil).

Q: What are SEER, HSPF, EER, and COP?

A:  All are measures of energy efficiency. The higher the number, the higher the energy efficiency.
